Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting» Closed Joint Stock Company is the oldest television and radio organization in our country.

Azerbaijan Radio was established on November 6, 1926 and the Azerbaijan television was established on February 14, 1956. Azerbaijani television played a great role in the formation of the country's telemedicine. AzTv has shown itself in all the television channels created during the independence period.

On March 23,2005 Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting Closed Joint- Stock Company were established on the basis of Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting by President Ilham Aliyev's decree No 213.

The audience of Azerbaijani Television is broad. Television broadcasts can be viewed not only in every city and village, but also in many remote locations around the world. Azerbaijan Television operates correspondent offices in Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Iran, Canada, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. From April 5, the Arab Countries and the North African Bureau have started operating.

Since February 2004 AzTv’s programs have been providing better quality broadcasting in European countries. As a result of installation of digital Tv-Up-link station in Teleradio Production Union’s telegraph complex, Azerbaijan Tv broadcast to Europe via Hot Bird and SESAT, to North America via Galaxy 25 and to Asia via Turksat 1C. In 2007, Azerbaijan Television awarded «the European Quality» Award for technical broadcasting to Europe.

The Azerbaijan Broadcasting Union is a team of professional team and managers. On the eve of the half-anniversary of the Azerbaijani television and radio, many TV journalists and directors were awarded various state awards - honorary titles, orders and medals.
