SLBC
The Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) is a radio and television broadcasters in Sierra Leone. It is owned by the government of Sierra Leone; and is operated by an Independent Media Commission (IMC), under the supervision of the Sierra Leone Ministry of Information and Communications.
The SLBC was formed in April 2010, when the Sierra Leone government owned Sierra Leone Broadcasting Services (SLBS), merged with the United Nations peacekeeping radio station.
The SLBC national television and main radio station primarily broadcasts from its headquarter in Freetown. Its also broadcasts from its regional radio studios in Bo, Kenema, Koidu Town, Makeni, Magburaka and Kailahun.
The SLBC was formally inaugurated on June 15, 2010 by Sierra Leone’s president Ernest Bai Koroma and United Nations secretary general Ban Ki-Moon. It is under the supervision of the Sierra Leone Ministry of Information and Communications.
